Some variations of the game include a forced bet, ante, or blind. These can be placed into the pot voluntarily or if a player thinks that he is being bluff. As in most poker games, a minimum ante is generally required.

Another form of poker is the draw. Players are allowed to discard up to three cards, and a second round of betting is initiated after a player has discarded all of his or her cards.

Alternatively, a player may raise. This means that he or she bets more than the previous bettor. At the same time, he or she must be aware that no other player has a bet. Typically, a player who raises is regarded as bluffing.

Finally, a player can check. If a player checks, he or she may not be required to make a bet, but must ensure that no other player has a bet. This is sometimes referred to as a stay-in.

Other common poker games are draw poker and straight poker. Draw poker is a game where a player can discard his or her cards and receive replacement cards from the unaltered part of the pack. Straight poker is a variation of the game where each player’s hand is made up of five facedown cards.
